Tips that keep farewells human
- Open with their name and one concrete memory, not a job title alone.
- Mention what you will miss day to day: standup jokes, review speed, calm under pressure.
- Wish them something specific for the next role, not only “success.”
- Keep it short enough to read on a phone; two to five sentences is plenty.
- Skip gossip about why they left. Stay kind to everyone still in the room.
